soliciting donations

For my professional writing class, we're required to do a service project that involves some writing. I ended up in a group organizing an organ donor registration drive for the Kidney Foundation, which struck me as kind of funny, since what I'd really like to do is agitate for legalizing the organ trade.

It then occurred to me that I totally should have written documentation for an open source project, instead--and marvelously, software economically makes sense as a gift economy, since it lends itself so easily to monopolistic market failure. I'll have to try that next semester if I fail.
